Cliff painting of Wild Yak Valley

The cliff painting of Wild Yak Valley in Mount Kunlun is located under the Yuxu Peak in the south of the geopark. The cliff painting contains 5 groups (45 photos and 180 individual images). According to the determination, the cliff painting was made about 3,200 years ago, so it is old and precious. These cliff paintings artistically depict the colorful social life and the natural environment of ancestors ever lived in Mount Kunlun in a concise manner. The cliff painting mainly presents the scenes of hunting, dancing and animal husbandry by the ancestors. Various animals are depicted in individuals and groups including the yak, camel, horse, deer, wolf, leopard, dog, eagle, bear, sheep, etc., in which, the images of cattle and camel account for 85% of the total. The cliff painting, vigorous and of primitive simplicity, vividly reflects the social life, moral code, values, religious faith and aesthetic taste of the horde who lived in Mount Kunlun region thousands of years ago, and presents their expectation for harmonious coexistence with the nature, with very high historical and artistic value.
