What is glacier?
Glacier refers to the natural ice body on the surface of polar region or high mountain region for many years and moving along the ground. The glacier is covered with snow for many years and the ice formed by compaction, recrystalization and refreezing. The glacier has a fixed form and stratum as well as plasticity, with plastic flow and massive slump under gravity and pressure and is an important fresh water resource on the earth surface. Provisions of international glacier catalog: Perennial snow drift and ice body whose area exceeds 0.1km2 shall be included in the catalog of glacier.
