The Kunlun River
The Kunlun River originates from West Queen Jade Pool (Black Sea). It passes Wild Yak Valley and above Naij Tal. It covers an area of 5,973 cubic kilometers, and has a length of 130km; the average annual flow in years is 12.308m3/s. The maximum average monthly flow is seen in August – 47.8m3/s. The minimum average monthly flow occurs in January, which is 7.92m3/s. Golmud regards the river as a boundary line. The city was built by generals and developed into the second largest in Qinghai Province, and thousands of troops gathered together thanks to the river. Obviously, the Kunlun River symbolizes life in Golmud.
